L'ORIGINAL TABLE BASSE is a round steel table leg ( Hairpin ) that raises a table top to a height of 30 or 40 cm; it is secured with three screws and leaves the floor visible beneath it, whether in a living room or on a covered patio.
Manufactured in Montpellier, it is bent from a singlesolid round steel barwith a diameter of 12 mm: the two legs slope downward in a V-shape, meet at a 12-mm-radius loop at the floor, and are welded to the two flanges of a 126 × 126 mm L-shaped base plate, which is 46 mm wide and 3 mm thick.
This angle bracket fits into the corner of the table top, which dictates the installation method: the hairpin leg is mounted in sets of four—one at each corner—while a frame-type base is installed in pairs at the ends. As a result, the support extends farther from the center, the overhang is shorter, and the table top bends less between two legs.
The spacing between the top rails remains 100 mm for both heights; the 40-cm leg is therefore slimmer and more vertical than the 30-cm leg.
Each leg supports 25 kg and accommodates tabletops (table tops ) ranging from 40 to 160 cm in solid wood, plywood, marble, granite, glass, or recycled plastic, up to Ø 90 cm for round and oval shapes.
The powder coating process bakes a solvent-free polyester powder onto the steel: the film covers the weld bead and the bend, where liquid paint would thin out in the corners.
It is moisture-resistant, making it suitable for covered patios, sunrooms, and water features. Choose from eight finishes options, ranging from fine-textured matte black (RAL 9005) to sandblasted gold.
Wood screws and self-adhesive felt pads are included. Just three 6 mm drill holes are needed: position the mounting plate in the corner, pre-drill, screw it in—the whole thing is installed in just a few minutes.
On a glass, marble, or granite table top, the base plate is glued rather than screwed in place, using a flexible adhesive sealant suitable for stone or glass. On a melamine or flexible panel countertop, check the panel’s rigidity before assembling it into a table: these tops are designed to rest on cabinet frames.
For a matching dining table or desk, the “L'ORIGINAL ” in heights of 71 and 90 cm features the same design. For an intermediate height, L'ORIGINAL Made-to-measure it can be configured from 16 to 115 cm, with either an angled leg or a straight 90° leg.
40-cm living room coffee table
Two to four legs on a table top made of oak, walnut, or terrazzo, and the coffee table sits at sofa seat height, between 38 and 42 cm. The 12-mm legs allow the eye to pass through; the rug remains visible underneath, and the vacuum cleaner glides under the table top without bumping into a crossbar.
TV stand, sideboard, and dresser with 30-cm-
The 30-cm height raises a storage cabinet or TV stand without lifting it into the line of sight of someone sitting down. It’s also great for giving an antique piece a new look: remove the original legs, screw four Hairpins into the corners, and the piece immediately looks lighter.
Bench, footboard, and nightstand
At 40 cm, a 100–120 cm plank becomes an entryway bench for setting down bags and putting on shoes, or a footboard. At 30 cm wide and with a 40 × 40 cm “ table top,” the same “ Hairpin ” supports a nightstand that takes up only the space of its “ table top.”
Covered patio and sunroom
Under a canopy, a closed pergola, or in asunroom, the base supports a patio table made of teak, engineered stone, or recycled plastic. The powder-coated finish withstands temperature fluctuations and the humid air of a bathroom or laundry room.

Bent, welded, and powder-coated in Montpellier, it’s used for everything from vintage “ table top ” found at flea markets to reception coffee tables, waiting room benches, and display tables in stores. The ORIGINAL TABLE BASSE is a table leg that can support a load of 25 kilos per leg.
This pin-shaped steel table base is suitable for tables and tops of all shapes: rectangular, round, square, oval.
For square and rectangular shapes, we recommend a table top length of between 40 and 160 cm.
For round and oval shapes, we recommend a maximum table top diameter of 90 cm.
We supply screws and protective glides with our table legs.
Our legs are designed to be used with raw, solid wood or plywood tops.
You can also use tops made of other materials, such as marble, granite, recycled plastic or glass.
If you use a table top in glass, granite or marble, the legs can be glued on, without having to be screwed down.
