L'ORIGINAL MADE-TO-MEASURE is the set of hairpin table legs whose height you set to the centimetre, between 16 and 115 cm, under a TV unit as much as under a poseur table.
Made in France, each leg is bent from a single bar of Ø 12 mm solid round steel: the two rods run down in a V, meet in a loop at floor level and are welded to the two wings of a corner mounting plate measuring 126 × 126 mm, 46 mm wide and 3 mm thick. That plate sits in the corner of the top, so the leg goes on in sets of 4, one per corner, and the support point moves as far as possible from the centre.
Setting the height does more than lengthen the rod. The rods stay 100 mm apart at the top whatever height you order: the taller the leg, the more upright it stands, and the less width its V offers against sideways push. On the angled version, the same logic takes the angle from 75.22° at 20 cm to 86.35° at 115 cm.
The straight 90° leg keeps the classic line of a vertical base, the one that disappears under the top. The angled leg opens outwards: it breaks the vertical, softens the corner of the piece and gives the table a visual stance wider than its own top.
The figure you enter is the height of the finished leg, plate included, straight or angled: that is what you add to the thickness of the top to get the height of your piece.
Each leg holds 25 kg and takes tops from 30 to 180 cm in solid wood, plywood, marble, granite, HPL laminate, glass or recycled plastic, up to Ø 90 cm on round and oval shapes.
Powder coating bakes a polyester powder onto the steel, with no solvent: the film covers the weld bead and the bend, where liquid paint thins out in corners.
It resists moisture, which allows a covered terrace, a conservatory or a wet room.
Wood screws and self-adhesive felt pads are included. Three Ø 6 mm holes are all it takes: place the plate in the corner, pilot-drill, screw it down. On the angled version, point the lean towards the outside of the top: the four legs then form a pyramid whose base on the floor is wider than the top itself.
On a glass, marble or granite top, bond the plate instead of drilling it, using a flexible MS polymer adhesive rated for stone or glass.
On a melamine or soft-core worktop, check the panel is rigid enough before turning it into a table: those boards are designed to rest on cabinets.
If your height matches one already in the catalogue, L'ORIGINAL COFFEE TABLE in 30 and 40 cm and L'ORIGINAL in 71 and 90 cm use the same design, off the shelf. For a longer or heavier top at the same set height, LE COSTAUD MADE-TO-MEASURE adds a third rod.
16 to 30 cm: lifting a low unit
In this band the leg does not create a piece, it transforms one. Four 20 cm hairpins under a storage cabinet, a TV unit or a second-hand chest lift the volume off the floor: the line lightens, the eye passes underneath, and so does a vacuum head.
It is the shortest way to give a dated piece a second life, with no sanding and no repainting. Remove the original feet, screw four hairpins into the corners, and the silhouette changes era: a box sitting on the floor becomes a piece on legs, with the presence that the clear space underneath gives it.
At 16 cm, the same plate lifts a bed base or a storage crate.
35 to 45 cm: coffee table, bench and end-of-bed seat
A sofa seat sits between 38 and 42 cm: this is the band that lines a coffee table up with the edge of the cushion.
With a top 100 to 120 cm long, the same height gives a hallway bench or an end-of-bed seat; the hairpin silhouette keeps the rug visible and the sightline open under the top.
66 to 78 cm: dining table, desk and console
The most requested band, and the one where made to measure earns its keep on an unusual thickness: with an 8 cm slab, order 68 cm to land at a finished 76 cm.
With no rail, the whole volume under the top stays free, knees clear it and a pedestal drawer unit rolls under the desk without hitting a stretcher.
85 to 115 cm: worktop, island and poseur table
A kitchen worktop sits between 90 and 95 cm: a fitted top at that height extends the island instead of creating a second level.
Above it, the 100 to 115 cm band is the one the stock range does not cover: this is where a poseur table, a reception counter or a high workshop table gets built.
DIY projects, fit-out and production runs
Bent, welded and coated in France, it suits a flea-market board as readily as café tables, coworking desks and retail display tables.
Ordering one height for a whole batch removes the on-site cutting, and the eight finishes match a base to a colour scheme without repainting, from RAL 1023 yellow to RAL 5002 ultramarine blue.

This pin-shaped steel table base is suitable for tables and tops of all shapes: rectangular, round, square, oval.
For square and rectangular shapes, we recommend a length of table top between 40 and 160 cm.
For round and oval shapes, we recommend a table top diameter of 90 cm maximum.
"L'Original Sur Mesure" is also suitable for kitchen islands and worktops.
We supply screws and protective glides with our table legs.

What material should I use for my table top?
Our legs are designed for use under wooden tops (raw, solid, plywood).
You can also use marble, granite, recycled plastic or glass tops.
Please note: if you're using a worktop to make a table, make sure it's suitable for the purpose. Some worktops need to be supported by boxes, as they are made of flexible materials (e.g. melamine).
Yes, but with the right finish.
- Indoors: All finishes are ideal
- Sheltered exterior (covered terrace, pergola, veranda): Powder-coating recommended for maximum durability.
- Unsheltered exteriors: Not recommended (even with powder coating, water accumulation in the tubes could pose a long-term problem)
This table base is available in nine professional-quality finishes that don't just look good - they protect.
Fine-texture powder-coated finishes: matt black (RAL 9005), white (RAL 9003), cream (RAL 9001), green (RAL 6011), yellow (RAL 1023), blue (RAL 5002).

Powder coating involves baking electrostatic polyester powder at 200°C. The result? A 60-80 micron protective coating that resists :
