From 2015 to today, in Montpellier. Each year stacks on top of the last: trade fairs, workshops, the people who joined us and the ranges that came off our welding benches.
2015
2 moments: milestone, new range.
Tom founds the brand
Tom launches Ripaton in a small garage in Montpellier, with a simple idea: furniture stands on its legs. So we make them ourselves.
The first hairpin legs
Two steel rods, a clean weld, a matte black finish. The 1941 design becomes our first product.
2016
2 moments: milestone, team.
The online shop opens
A few photos taken in the workshop, and the first orders arriving from all over France.
Margot joins the adventure
A year after the brand was founded, Margot joins Tom. Ripaton becomes a two-person adventure.
2017
2 moments: trade fair, workshop.
Our first trade fair
Tables assembled on site to show our legs in use. We discover we love explaining our craft face to face.
Leaving the garage
Our first real workshop, with room to store steel and prepare orders without tripping over each other.
2018
2 moments: new range.
Clothes rails
Same steel, new use. Our clothes rails leave the workshop and quickly become a customer favourite.
Wall brackets
Shelf brackets, then a whole wall range: steel moves from under the table up onto the walls.
2019
2 moments: trade fair, workshop.
Our first Maison&Objet
January 2019, Paris: our first major trade fair. Architects, interior designers and shopfitters discover Ripaton.
A new welding station
We invest in a new welding station and fixture table to weld our legs faster, with the same clean finish.
2020
2 moments: milestone, trade fair.
The year everyone took up DIY
During the lockdowns, everyone takes up DIY: we double our revenue and reorganise the workshop to keep up with lead times.
Ripaton moves into the BHV
A Ripaton stand at the BHV in Paris: our wall brackets and legs on show in the heart of a department store.
2021

Focus on professionals
Professionals become our priority: kitchen designers, architects and shopfitters get their own prices, STEP and DWG technical files and a dedicated contact.
Complete table bases
Not just legs any more: complete table bases, ready for a tabletop.
2022
2 moments: workshop, trade fair.
Our 1,000 m² workshop
Fourth move: we buy our own premises, 1,000 m² in Montpellier to make, store and ship under one roof.
Back at Maison&Objet
A stand shaped like little houses, in steel and wood, to present the full range to professionals.
2023

Ripaton launches its own tables
After months of work by the whole team, we present our own tables, ready for your home or your restaurant.
The Ripaton Van Tour
A week on the road in a van to meet our professional customers: joiners, marble masons, shopfitters. The adventure told in episodes on Instagram.

ripaton.fr speaks three new languages
The site goes live in German, Dutch and English. Our Belgian, German and Dutch customers order in their own language.
2026

New organic shapes
Soft curves and rounded lines: steel takes on more natural shapes for tables and furniture.
We deliver across the European Union
Our legs now ship to all 27 countries of the European Union, sent from Montpellier.
