LES RAFFINÉS is our set of two trapezoid coffee table legs in flat steel, to build a living room table, a sofa-side table or a low bench whose corners stay clear.
Made in France, each leg starts as a single bar of flat steel 40 × 5 mm, bent four times: two corners at the top, two on the floor. The bar is never cut and carries no weld.
The frame stands 400 mm high, 330 mm wide at the top and 530 mm on the floor: each upright moves out by 100 mm between the mounting plate and the ground.
Both ends of the bar fold inwards over 90 mm and form the plates, each drilled with two Ø 6.5 mm holes. The screws therefore land some ten centimetres in from the edges of the table top, not in its edge grain.
Each leg holds 50 kg and takes tops from 30 to 160 cm long, at least 53 cm wide, in solid wood, plywood, marble, granite, glass or recycled plastic.
The eight powder-coated colours receive an oven-cured polyester powder: the film wraps the whole bar, edges included, and resists the moisture of a covered terrace or a conservatory.
The dark matt varnish does the opposite and leaves the raw steel visible, with its original surface marks; it stays indoors.
The set ships with 4 × 25 mm wood screws and self-adhesive rubber pads. Eight screws are enough, four per leg.
Place one frame at each end of the top, wide base facing outwards, then screw through the holes. The screw passes 5 mm of plate and bites 20 mm into the wood: allow at least 25 mm of top thickness, or use a shorter screw.
On a solid wood top, do not tighten all the way: wood moves with room humidity and needs a little play.

A coffee table that keeps its corners free
Under an oak top of 110 × 60 cm, both frames pull in towards the centre and the four corners of the piece stay empty. A pouffe slides underneath, a rug runs past the base without hitting an upright, and nobody catches a foot sitting down on the sofa. The living room table looks held on two leaning lines rather than on four legs planted at the corners.
A thick top set low, without weighing on the room
A slab of marble or a 40 mm oak panel looks as heavy as it feels. The 53 cm base anchors the piece to the floor while the line rises and narrows, and the volume reads lighter than it is. Seen from three quarters, the leg disappears behind the thickness of the top; head-on, it draws a clean trapezoid with no screw showing on the surface.
A new base under a piece worth keeping
A dated coffee table does not have to be replaced, it can change base. Take off the old frame, screw on two trapezoid frames, and the piece moves era without sanding or repainting the top. A copper or green frame under pale wood is enough to rewrite the look of the sofa corner, and the job takes about ten minutes.
A bench for a covered terrace
Under a pergola or in a conservatory, the powder-coated colours hold against moisture. With a recycled plastic or stone top, the same set makes a 120 cm bench or a terrace table matching the one indoors. The dark matt varnish, which leaves the steel bare, stays dry inside.
Matching runs for contract projects
In hotels, shops or coworking spaces, the trapezoid clears the floor at the foot of the banquettes: cleaning runs under the tables without moving them, and chairs meet no vertical upright. The frames are cut, bent and powder-coated in our Montpellier workshop and held in stock, so an identical reorder is still possible months after the first one.

Our legs are designed for use under wooden tops (raw, solid, plywood). You can also use marble, granite, recycled plastic or glass tops.

Metallic sandblasted effect powder-coated finishes: copper (90354), gold (Y2316F).
Powder coating involves baking electrostatic polyester powder at 200°C. The result? A 60-80 micron protective coating that resists :
