LE COSTAUD is the reinforced set of hairpin table legs that lifts a top to 71 or 90 cm, fixes with three screws and holds 50 kg per leg, under a 200 cm dining table as much as under a kitchen island.

Made in France, it starts from a single bar of Ø 12 mm solid round steel, bent into a V, spread 100 mm apart at the top and closed at floor level by a loop, welded to the two wings of a corner mounting plate measuring 126 × 126 mm, 46 mm wide and 3 mm thick. Those two rods run straight down, at 90° to the plate.
A third rod is added to it, welded at two points: at the corner of the angle plate, then onto the top of the loop. Starting from the corner rather than from a wing, it runs down at a slant. It does not reach the floor, the bearing point stays that of the bent bar.
Held at both ends, it closes a second triangle in the direction where the V does not work. On a 71 or 90 cm leg that direction is the one that decides: the taller the leg, the more leverage a push at the top has.
The corner plate sits in the corner of the top: the leg is fitted in sets of 4, one per corner.
Each leg holds 50 kg and takes tops from 40 to 200 cm in solid wood, plywood, marble, granite, glass or recycled plastic, up to Ø 90 cm on round and oval shapes.

Powder coating bakes a polyester powder onto the steel, with no solvent: the film covers every weld bead and the bend, where liquid paint thins out in corners. The lower weld of the third rod forms an inside angle against the loop, exactly the spot where liquid paint pools on one side and pulls away on the other.
It resists moisture, which allows a covered terrace, a conservatory or a wet room.

Wood screws and self-adhesive felt pads are included. Three Ø 6 mm holes are all it takes: place the plate in the corner, pilot-drill, screw, and the leg is on in minutes.
On a glass, marble or granite top, bond the plate instead of drilling it, using a flexible MS polymer adhesive rated for stone or glass. On a melamine or soft-core worktop, check the panel is rigid enough before turning it into a table: those boards are designed to rest on cabinets.

For a matching coffee table or TV unit, LE COSTAUD COFFEE TABLE in 30 and 40 cm uses the same three-rod design. For an in-between height, LE COSTAUD MADE-TO-MEASURE is configurable from 16 to 115 cm. For the slimmest line on a lighter top, L'ORIGINAL keeps to two rods at the same two heights.

Large dining table and heavy top, at 71 cm
With a top 3 to 5 cm thick, 71 cm gives a finished table between 74 and 76 cm, the standard height for a dining chair. What changes here is what you can put on it: a 200 cm oak top, a marble slab or a slice of travertine, without cutting the length back to suit the base. With no rail, the whole volume under the top stays free, chairs tuck right in and nothing limits knee room.

Kitchen island and high dining spot, at 90 cm
90 cm lines a fitted top up with a kitchen worktop, which usually sits between 90 and 95 cm: the table extends the island instead of creating a second level. This is the most demanding set-up in the range, a top that is both high and often wide, and the one where the third rod counts most. For a proper poseur table at 105 or 110 cm, go to the made-to-measure version, which reaches 115 cm.

Desk, meeting table and coworking space
In commercial use a table is not only loaded, it is knocked about: people lean on the edge, push it aside to pass, move it without lifting it. 50 kg per leg leaves room for a 180 or 200 cm top, a monitor, two power bricks and a pair of elbows. At 71 cm, a pedestal drawer unit rolls under the top without hitting a stretcher.

Covered terrace, conservatory and workshop
Under an awning, a closed pergola or in a conservatory, the leg carries a terrace table in teak, reconstituted stone or recycled plastic, materials far heavier than an indoor top. Powder coating takes temperature swings, the damp air of a utility room and the splashes of a workshop bench.

DIY projects and commercial fit-out
Bent, welded and coated in France, it suits a salvaged door as readily as café tables, coworking desks and retail display tables, where load is a daily fact rather than a hypothesis. The eight finishes match a base to a colour scheme without repainting, from RAL 1023 yellow to RAL 5002 ultramarine blue.

Frequently asked questions

Yes, we offer our three-pronged pin table base in custom heights from 16 to 115 cm.

LE COSTAUD is a table leg that can support a load of 50kilos per leg.

This pin-shaped steel table base is suitable for tables and tops of all shapes: rectangular, round, square, oval.

For square and rectangular shapes, we recommend a length of table top between 40 and 200 cm.

For round and oval shapes, we recommend a table top diameter of 90 cm maximum.

We supply screws and protective glides with our table legs.

Our legs are designed to be used with raw, solid wood or plywood tops.

You can also use tops made of other materials, such as marble, granite, recycled plastic or glass.

If you use a table top in glass, granite or marble, the legs can be glued on, without having to be screwed down.

Please note: if you're using a worktop to make a table, check that it's suitable for the purpose.

Some worktops need to be supported by boxes, as they are made from soft materials such as melamine.

Yes, but with the right finish.

  • Indoors: All finishes are ideal
  • Sheltered exterior (covered terrace, pergola, veranda): Powder-coating recommended for maximum durability.
  • Unsheltered exteriors: Not recommended (even with powder coating, water accumulation in the tubes could pose a long-term problem)

This table base is available in nine professional-quality finishes that don't just look good - they protect.

Fine-texture powder-coated finishes: matt black (RAL 9005), white (RAL 9003), cream (RAL 9001), green (RAL 6011), yellow (RAL 1023), blue (RAL 5002).

Metallic sandblasted effect powder-coated finishes: copper (90354), gold (Y2316F).

Powder coating involves baking electrostatic polyester powder at 200°C. The result? A 60-80 micron protective coating that resists :

- Humidity: Rust-free, sheltered outdoor use (covered terrace, veranda)

- UV: No discoloration in sunlight

- Impact: Harder than simple varnish

- Corrosion: Integrated anti-corrosion protection.

It's THE professional finish par excellence for furniture that lasts

Ultra-simple care:

  • Regular cleaning: damp cloth + mild soap (pH neutral), then dry with a dry cloth
  • White stains (limescale): Soft cloth soaked in white vinegar or cider vinegar, rinse, dry
  • Sheltered exterior: Clean 2 times a year to remove pollen and dust

Absolutely avoid:

- Abrasive products (scraping sponge, scouring powder)

- High-pressure cleaners

- Undiluted acidic products
