LE DÉLICIEUX SQUARE MADE-TO-MEASURE is a central bistro table base with configurable height, built to make a coffee table, a dining table, a poseur table or a terrace table in bistro, industrial or contemporary style.
Made in France, in our Montpellier workshop, it stacks three parts on one axis: a top plate Ø 35 cm in 6 mm steel that carries the top, a square central tube 60 × 60 mm in 1.5 mm steel cut to your height between 30 and 110 cm, and a square footplate 45 × 45 cm in 8 mm steel on the floor.
Only the tube changes length, never the footplate: the same 45 × 45 cm footprint serves the 30 cm coffee table and the 110 cm poseur table. A central base has no stretcher and no triangulation: the mass of the plate alone resists tipping when someone leans on the edge of the top, and the higher the top sits, the more leverage that gesture has.
Hence the two stated limits: 30 kg of top and 80 cm across, in solid wood, marble, granite, tempered glass, plywood or HPL laminate.
In return, the table gains what a four-leg base gives at no height: not one upright in the corners, seats that slide in from every side, and a dimension that fits your chairs or stools instead of the reverse.
The powder-coated finish comes in eight shades, from matt black RAL 9005 to blue RAL 5002, with cream RAL 9001, green RAL 6011, yellow RAL 1023, gloss white RAL 9003, copper and gold. All of them resist moisture: the oven-cured layer holds up indoors and in sheltered outdoor settings, on a covered terrace, in a veranda or on a balcony.
Delivered knock-down with its 6 M8 bolts: both plates bolt to the tube in minutes, so the parcel clears a narrow staircase and tables can be broken down out of season. The top plate carries slotted holes 6.5 × 9.5 mm: that elongated shape lets the screw slide as a solid wood top swells and shrinks through the seasons, and stops it splitting along the fixing line. 25 mm wood screws and self-adhesive rubber pads supplied; for a marble or glass top, replace screwing with an MS polymer adhesive.
For a round top, LE DÉLICIEUX ROUND FINE MADE-TO-MEASURE covers the same height range with a Ø 8 cm tube. Coffee table and side table, 30 to 45 cm
Below 45 cm, the central base stops being a leg set and becomes a plinth. A round 60 cm solid oak top or a 2 cm marble slab set at 40 cm makes a coffee table you walk around without catching a leg, with room for a whole pouffe underneath. At 30 cm, the same base serves as a side table or a low bedside, with the top cut back to 40 cm.
Dining nook, open kitchen, desk: 71 to 75 cm
This is the most requested height, and where the central base pays off best: the dining table, two to four covers, no longer has an upright in the corners, chairs come in from all four sides, and knees move freely. As an occasional desk, the same dimension lets chair castors roll with nothing to steer around. The Ø 35 cm plate spreads the bearing over a wide circle instead of four points, which is what lets a salvaged bistro top be remounted on a new base.
Poseur table, bar corner, snack counter: 90 to 110 cm
At counter height, the poseur table serves morning coffee then evening drinks without changing furniture. A 60 cm square top at 110 cm takes two people standing; on high stools, the 45 × 45 cm footplate stays clear of footrests. In a bar, a brasserie or a staff room, those heights are ordered under the same reference as the seated tables in the same room.
Covered terrace, veranda, balcony
In sheltered outdoor settings, powder-coated steel takes moisture, morning dew and temperature swings. Paired with an HPL laminate or oiled solid wood top, it makes a terrace table for two : light enough to bring in at night, stable enough to stay out all season. On a narrow balcony, a 105 cm height and a 50 cm top turn a railing into a counter facing the street.

Two limits apply: 30 kg of top and 80 cm across. The second comes from the 45 × 45 cm footprint: past 80 cm, the overhang gets too large for the footplate to resist tipping when a guest leans on the edge. In practice, material density sets the thickness.

These figures cover the heaviest case, a square 80 × 80 cm top. A round Ø 80 cm top has 21% less surface: marble goes up to 2 cm there.
